The Bacchus String Quartet was formed in Manchester in 2000. All four members studied at the Royal Northern College of Music, where they received tuition from many renowned international musicians, both as individuals and as chamber musicians.
As well as playing with the Quartet, the members are either full time or freelance with the BBC Philharmonic, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, the Hallé, Manchester Camerata and the Northern Sinfonia. The Bacchus Quartet has performed all over the UK and in 2002 recorded its first CD, featuring a selection of popular classics.
As an ensemble, the Bacchus Quartet specialises in light entertainment and background music for weddings and corporate events but regularly gives concerts including music of all styles. The Quartet has also been involved in educational work, recently giving a concert of A-level study works. Forthcoming engagements include a concert as part of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic lunchtime series.
Apart from its own CD, the Bacchus Quartet has recorded backing tracks for a number of popular artists and for recent video games. Most recently, the Quartet toured Europe with the band "Anathema" and appears on their latest DVD, "A Moment in Time".
